The Katinas

The Katinas are five brothers, Sam, Joe, James, John and Jesse, who grew
up in a family of 12 in American Samoa, where their father, Moses
Katina, still pastors. The Katina brothers formed an R&B pop group in
1977. Since early childhood they have performed at youth conventions,
camps, high schools, churches, as well as radio and television
broadcasts. The Katina brothers have performed with the likes of CeCe
Winans, Michael Bolton, and R. Kelly and were a featured group on the
1997, 1998 and 1999 Amy Grant Christmas Tours. In 1998 they toured the
country with the 1998 E.R.A.C.E. (Eliminating Racism And Equality) Tour
where they shared the stage with dcTalk, Out of Eden, Jennifer Knapp,
and Temple Yard. They turned down a three-million dollar contract with
Arista Records when they asked them to change their words for a
mainstream audience. Their father taught them to bathe every decision
with prayer. As John Katina explains, As for me and my house, we will
serve the Lord. The Katinas have four albums, The Katinas, Destiny,
Lifestyle and Roots.
